"Purple Ice"

"A Stick in the Mud" - Gnarled driftwood and emerald reflections.

"Golden Reflection" - This once-in-a-lifetime lucky shot shows the intermeshing of the red and green pines. Contrary to belief, the red pines are indeed perennial. Many people falsely believe that the red color is caused by the aging or dying of the green pine needles; this is not so. Note: In his long career of photographing in the Wasatch Mountains, blog host has witnessed and photographed the same full-blown, non-wilted red pine trees, over a span of many years. - ed.

"Moonscape Over the Wasatch" - Approaching twilight on a summer's eve, a rare moment above White Pine Lake. Note: To obtain this vista takes an arduous all-day hike, exacerbated by the additional climbing over these treacherous rocks. -ed.

"Mosquito Row" - This lake is one of three in the vicinity. All three lakes are named after original Mormon pioneer women, as follows: Lake Mary, Lake Martha (above) and Lake Catherine. Note: Blog host found this lake inundated with mosquitoes - ed. P.S. Don't forget your bug spray.

"Glacial Reflection" - Giant logs and glacial sediment serenely still, as seen in this early summer picture from Red Pine Lake, Wasatch Mountains, N. Utah. Note: This all-day hike is rather strenuous when one has to trudge through miles of snow. -ed.
